Active, heartfelt and dedicated volunteers represent the core of Living Library. All of our living books are volunteers with personal experience with their topic. Through the organizational component and active involvement of youth and students in all phases of the project, we actively encourage socially engaged activities, introduces them and presents them with the benefits of volunteering and enables them to make independent decisions and take on responsibility.
As part of the project, volunteers actively recruited new books and volunteers, organized training for all participants in the project, organized Living library and evaluation meeting. In addition, volunteers closely reviewed project activities, co-shaped activities in adapting the method for younger readers. During the project we also carried out training for new volunteers and books, with the aim of mainstreaming Living library method to school setting and reality.
Our aim is to train a team of young, committed volunteers to be able to organize and carry out Living Library independently, as peer to peer learning is in our focus. Furthermore the objective is to engage and include in students from elementary school, as they show significant interest in taking part. Another agenda is also close cooperation with teachers. We are encouraging them to use informal learning methods.
