Human rights education and Living Library are our core activities. By participating in our workshops, students and volunteers are learning the skills of argumentation, critical analysis of society, principles of co-existence and cooperation. These are all basic skills needed to make young people aware and active citizens of a democratic society.
We have designed two types of workshops:
focused on the 8th graders: The aim of the workshops was to reflect on Living Library experience and what it means to students to be part of it. Side quest of the activity was to engage students to establish Living Library on their school as extra-curricular activity,.
focused on 9th graders: Aim of the activity was to open up discussion about general human rights (HR) and how human rights reflect in students’ lives. Main objectives being understanding the differences between civil and political rights, and social and economic rights. Using and developing skills of discussion and argumentation to foster respect & open mindedness.
Workshops on human rights and active citizenship are conducted through experiential learning. We address burning topics, encourage social activation and provide students with a safe space to transition the mental comfort zone.
